I have just heard that Tyson, ex Sydney poundie was adopted by a Seniors fan! I am just waiting for a new photo of him and will post shortly. He is one lucky boy to be adopted and adored.
BHSC Tyson Chipped Shepherd male 10 years ON PTS LIST FOR TUES AM
Tyson is a delightful and very dignified fellow who is eager to please and great on his feet. Tyson is very happy to be handled all over, sits beautifuly when asked and shakes hands as well. Tyson is a very well manered, affectionate boy who walks nicely on lead.
Tyson has a hematoma on his left ear probably due to an ear issue
Tyson is one of those quiet achievers who is never any trouble at the pound and is a pleasure to care for and spend time with.

If she doesn't go home or someone has put a tender on her ahead of my rescue offer, little Ellie May will be a Seniors Dogs. She sure looks like she'll fit in here.
6543 Female tan Old pomeranian long BCC Tue 27/Oct/2009

From her rescuer:
This sweet old girls face got to me when I saw her picture in Urgent Rescue Canterbury Pound thread
, lots of dogs pull my heartstrings but Tammy was different
Well I picked her up this morning and this beautiful 16 year old lady absolutely melts me, she's the size of a kelpie with cattle dog coloured feet and a white chest, she weighs a tiny 8.2kg
, just skin and bone, but barely sits still for a minute. Like one of those wiry old ladies that go a million miles an hour! She stood up all the way home in the car, watching out the windows...
When we got home she tottered all over the front yard before I brought her in for a bath. She happily let me wash every little bit of her oh so gently, she feels so fragile! . She loved being toweled off, wagging her tail and shaking herself off balance before coming back for more towel
Her coat is so soft.
Vets said she was hardly eating anything. Well bless her she likes my cooking! and has eaten a couple of tablespoons
about 6 times since being here(about 1pm) I cooked up some chicken thighs and rice and put a little Vets all Natural Health Booster on it when I give it to her. She has also eaten some Advance puppy kibble and seems to chew them up with out any problem. So Im hopeful I can improve her body condition a little but only time will tell.
I haven't had such an elderly dog before so if anyone has any advice or tips Id welcome them with open arms!
She is pretty much deaf (which could be in her favor here lol), has cataracts on both eyes but can see and she gets around very well. She has spent hours in the yard this afternoon sniffing every square inch while the other dogs play in the back ground, they all get on famously and seem to know she is old and show her respect. Ziggy is a little jealous but that’s just Princess Ziggy! Lol
Diva, the Ridgey x Dane pup is a foster from Hay and Sharni the crazy cattle x is mine.
I can’t stop looking at her…. Im in awe!.
I finally get it...I have read so many times people saying the oldies are very special and now I see so clearly why. My kids even get it now too, they didn't understand why I wanted to bring home a dog that we know we will not have for years and will unavoidably end in tears. But now they see how they can make a difference to her life and that NO dog should die with no one to shed a tear for them.
We adore her. She has such a presence, you cant help but feel enormous respect for her, her frailty evokes such tenderness and care from all of us. She truly is amazing!

2 weeks in care.......
Well, we're on the improve in the
'makeover' area.
Still a way to go.

Kitty Kat has visited her vet tonight and there is plenty of good news. No heartworm, a sound heart, she is desexed and not too 'old'. She does have a small hernia and her eye still needs medication until the infection has gone completely and she only has only 2 small teeth left. The only real issue is the fairly useless section of her tongue (the bit outside of where the loop of hair was wrapped tightly around) and whether it will return to being more useful as she uses it and the strength returns. Time will tell. Of course her general appearance is still very shabby and needs time and TLC to improve.
Thanks to Belinda for transporting her (and back up offers from Sue, Bill, Mary and Cynthia
) Kitty is here now. Here are some before photos. She was a mess, but the photos don't pick up the details like the sticks, bits of plant and poo stuck fast in her matted fur, not to even mention the horrid mess underneath her sore eyes. Her front legs were joined together at the top, no doubt affecting her gait. I have managed to do a rough clip and a quick bath (neither she has had for a LONG time) and will tidy her up further tomorrow, she's had enough for tonight.

Note: She is very sweet and is on my lap snuggled and happy!!!
Coming today!..........
5780 - Maltese - Female - White older aged girl, missing all her teeth good with other dogs
Can you guess exactly what this is and where it has come from?

NO? OK then first clue : Kitty.........not you Anna
you helped remove it.
YES Rhonda!! First in with the correct answer. Anyone else as clever??
OK OK!!! The only correct answer was Rhonda, so for everyone else it is a ring of hair, hardened and getting tighter and tighter around the middle of Kitty Kats' tongue.
Hideous?? So tight that there is a deep ridge in her tongue around 2 1/2" from the tip. Can you imagine if it was in place for much longer? Poor darling has a lot of trouble eating and needs a very large floor area to chase her food around on.
The end of her tongue is very thick and dry and I'm really hoping that will improve.
No photos yet until we make a bit more progress with her face that is still pretty messy.
Taffy - Silky X Crested - Female - 7 years
Taffy came into care a very skinny unloved little girl. She had probably never been in the house or sat on the lounge before.
She was not house-trained and it was a challenge for her to learn the better place to toilet but she is now and also has mastered the double doggie door.
Her nature is quiet, friendly and calm. She is active and alert and has no issues.
Her coat is growing back after the knots and matts were clipped off but it's this thin coat type that suggests her cross with a Chinese Crested Powder Puff dog.
She has gained weight and is slowly filling out from the bony frame that arrived here. She is a good eater and not fussy.
Taffy is sociable with people and good with other dogs, although is a little bossy with other females.
She would suit a household with company of other dog(s) and people but not younger children.
She will only be rehomed within NSW/ACT after a home visit.

After a huge fight our tiny, brave man slipped away peacefully this morning. He has fought for 2 hard weeks and the ups and downs have been a rough rollercoaster ride. I spent the last two nights up with him to make sure he was not alone and fluids kept him comfortable but early this morning he slumped and at 5 past 9 he died as I kissed his head and stroked his tiny body.
I can't thank everyone enough for the support and care that has come our way. People I have never met and some of whom have dogs of their own sick and in need have emailed, messaged and written with such caring, loving words and prayers. This has meant so much to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Run free sweet boy, you were very special and very loved.
Ledger went to sleep for the last time.....dear little man has broken Andrea's heart.
If you remember he was saved from the pound here in Sydney and Andrea kindly offered to take him in. He was a very fragile boy.
He spent the last part of his life loved and cared for like at no other time in his life with her and her brood (including a Seniors dog, Henrietta).
Andrea is a very special Seniors person and I know she is really struggling having lost 2 of her dear older dogs recently. My thoughts are with her.
Run free Ledger........
First photo of Taffy - sweet but confident, 8-10 years old, VERY skinny and knotty but not as bad as expected. A little bud soon to flower...
And yes Anna, smart like a Silky........
Thanks to Sue for giving up hours on a Sunday to go and pick her up and bring her here.
She says she needs the puppy kisses.....
5544 - Maltese - X - Female - Silver - very very skinny, but has a beautiful nature older aged girl
Dressed to impress....
Saturday: Well the vet had plenty of good news. Firstly her bad eye has some vision and is either a birth defect or a very old injury, so there is no treatment needed.
She may even be desexed as he has felt a possible scar, time will tell. Her mouth is 'manky' so a dental is a priority, along with her heartworm test. This will be done very soon.
Jen has reported she has moved in with her dogs and gets on very well with them.
In all not too bad for a dog of 10 - 12 years.
Yes we don't seem to have enough dogs! LOL! Luckily there is a fantastic foster carer, Jen, who is going to help (big time) with her. Her name is Maisie and she is a tiny old Chi, as you should be expecting by now.....
She has some serious eye issues (what's new) but more on all of that soon after she has seen the vet and come into care. Keep your fingers crossed for this girlie.
She's off the the vet on Saturday, so more news then.
Remember George? Well his name is now Gordan and he is one happy boy. This photo is with his friend Lilly (who is vision impaired) and he is alertly listening to noises nearby.
He is so comfortable now with the treatment that Fiona and family have followed through on he actually can run! He runs to greet his new loving family.
When he first came from the pound he staggered and could not step up on to the sleeping area in his quarantine pen.
To me he looks like a much younger dog now...all thanks to the love and care he gets.
Thanks Fiona. You have a place in all of our hearts.
We have taken Little Nell for blood and urine analysis for the small fits she has. We really need to know what is happening inside her gorgeous little body before she can move on to her forever home. Reports avaialble soon.....
UPDATE: "5/4/09
Lil Nell is doing so well, she is used to the drops for her eyes and they are getting better and better. She has some sight but it must be blurred, at least the pain is gone now. Her coat is growing back and it's hard to believe she's the same little scrap who arrived here a few weeks ago.
She has a tail that never stops wagging, will play with the other dogs, eats like a horse, uses the cat flap, is housetrained, loves a bath, a game and a snooze on the bed.
She is simply a joy to know and makes me smile."
PART 1 surgery: today Little Nell had surgery sorting her dreadful ears and mouth, desexing, a heartworm test and quite a few tests on her eyes and ears. Her eyes need a lot more care and treatment before the next surgery is considered. Thanks to Alison, the pledge has kicked off beautifully and my heart goes out to Anna for taking LN into her home (and bed....) to help her through.
Latest news on our Little Nell: she is one very neglected girlie! She has conditions that have been left untreated for a very long and painful time. So sad, and it makes us so mad!!!!!!!
So what does she need? Surgery, expensive specialist surgery to correct her eye problem, which is most likely entropian. AND a new home ASAP where she will get loads of care and recuperation time. The home needs to be a little quiet though as her eyes are now at most risk from any further damage. No children, no cats, few dogs.
She also has the worst skin I have had to deal with, so another challenge. I may even visit the natural vet if normal TLC, good diet and gentle skin care doesn't help soon.
Did I say how sweet, happy and cuddly she is? She's probably not even too old, maybe 8ish, just let become very run down. She has LOADS of potential and Anna and I are totally commited to helping her.
Some time ago Felix came to Seniors. It's a long story, but I'll make it short. With the help of Kae from RWL in Melbourne we rescued Felix from hell (The Lost Dogs Home). Within the time he has been here we learned of his owner (who had been in a Nursing Home and passed away), his 'sister' (who lived in Sweden and thought she had rehomed him to a responsible home), and his being picked up as a stray and never looked for.
Felix had had a lovely life until his 'mum' was no longer able to care for him. His 'sister' loved him too but couldn't take him home to Sweden at age 12. His new home didn't work out and he wandered off, ended up in...well...hell. His 'sister' has come to Sydney to visit!!
He came to Sydney, had his vet work done and moved in with me. In the early days he had a few inquiries but the right home didn't come along for him. Why? I don't know because he has always been a lovely boy with no bad habits, house trained, not a barker, sleeps in the wardrobe.....
But now he has passed his prime and I feel he needs to take his place in the Seniors Retirement Village with Pee Wee (who also won't be going anywhere) for his remaining days. He has dementia and some pretty bad leg/ hip issues and both will be investigated with the vet soon.
Please don't forget the 'retirees'. Both Pee Wee and Felix are great dogs and are still enjoying their life. Pee Wee takes
meds every day that keep her heart going strong and keep her comfortable.
Sadly our little Blackie has gone. A few days ago he started to take some fits and last night they intensified and he was sent off to end his suffering. The time that he spent with Nora and family was precious. He was treated like a king ( a spoilt king at that), given everything he needed, the best vet care, a wonderful wardrobe and best of all LOVE!
Nora is distraught at his loss even though in her head she knows it was time, her heart won't let go that easily. Bless her.
Nora did something so special, taking on a really tough case like Blackie and I thank her from the bottom of my heart.
Please think of her in her grief and be ready to support her when she feels ready to take on a new 'Blackie' to love.
Run free sweet little man..........
Blackie sporting one of his coats, looking smart and trendy.
His health status is better on medication that has relieved the stress and strain on his heart.
He is one lucky little man.
Blackie's cough just kept getting worse, it wasn't Kennel Cough but heart failure setting in. Luckily for him, Nora and her vet will provide the best care and medication to keep him going. With luck and care he has at least a year or two.....and hopefully more. Bless you Nora.

Blackie on the first day of the rest of his life.....
Update from Nora: All I can say, he is an angel, a very good boy, settled very well and low maintenance. A lovely nature. Love him.
Do you see his ears are up and it seems he is smiling?
Well Blackie had a pretty good report for most things. His eye is blind and opaque due to an old injury but he sees out of the other one. His teeth are quite good - surprisingly. He is desexed already and needs only to have his heartworm test tomorrow and his nails trimmed. The bad news is he has a 'marked' heart murmur so depending on the onset of symptoms he may need medication before too long. Luckily Nora has agreed to follow through and make sure he has what he needs. She will pick him up tomorrow.
Thanks to a call from some people who want to open their hearts and home to a 'special needs' oldie, this boy may have found his second chance.
Keep your fingers crossed his vet report is good and his eyes can be helped (maybe requiring a removal sadly) and he retains some sight, everything else is OK and those nails get a good trim. Then he can go to this new, compassionate home.

Do you remember seeing this boy on Urgent recently? He had nothing...no offers and then a lovely lady saw him on Seniors, took herself off to the pound and adopted him. She made my day yesterday by sending me the good news and some photos.
I have tried to help dogs in the pound by directing interested people to visit them and do a direct adoption (or in this case place a tender). Itry my best to give them advice and contacts but often don't hear again and often it seems they don't follow through.
To know that little Boof is safe with Marika thrills me and makes my endless hours in this business more worthwhile.
Oh and this isn't the photo I had posted of him, the one I had was with taken with our Eddie in the same run.

Good news for Eddie, her blood results reveal nothing of concern!! She can start her heartworm treatment now and with luck it will be under control for the rest of her life.
Now all she needs is a warm day for a bath and some TLC!

Thanks to help from Frances Eddie is here in care......and only just. Yet another medical mess has landed on Seniors doorstep! Eddie has heartworm!! At this stage the initial tests reveal she may have a chance of pulling through, but the blood work will determine the extent of the damage done. She also has Kennel Cough, Flea Allergy Dermatitis and teeth needing a big clean. She's taking antibiotics, had some steroids and well that's it for a day or so when the heartworm treatment will be locked in. It was another day where the outcome was very unpredictable. Oh and the good news for her, she's already desexed - one less concern for more surgery and less risk of mammary tumours and cancer.
Oh and Eddie became a she........
Last week I 'lost' a dog. One I tried to save from death row was the victim of a lack of competence and comittment at the pound level which saw him killed by mistake. Needless to say I was devestated. It has made me decide to help another in his honour so please welcome Eddie into the Seniors group.
He will be heading from the pound to our vet at Greystanes for his vet work and then..... well I haven't quite got that sorted...unless there is a Sydneysider available to do a pick up from Greystanes tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday.
LEWIS HAS BEEN ADOPTED BY SAM AND HER FAMILY, HE IS A LUCKY BOY TO HAVE FOUND HIS HOME!
Lewis - Cocker X - Male - 7- 8 years old
Lewis is a lovely older but active boy. He is clean in the house, loves a car ride and is very happy to sleep on the end of the bed.
He is a loyal companion, well behaved and good with other dogs and very good with cats and wise around horses.
He would make a terrific companion for someone who would enjoy throwing a ball and taking walks.
He has a nice smooth easy care coat that doesn't require much maintenance.
He is located north of Sydney.

Thanks to Rhonda and Bill Missy has relocated to her forever home to live as all older Silkies should, in comfort and wrapped in love.
Missy - Silky X - Female - 10 years

JACKSON HAS FOUND where he truly belongs with Glennise and family!
Our little boy Jackson needs his own home URGENTLY. He isn't behaving well with the 2 other little males he shares with and we think he will do better in a spot where he has more people company and maybe a female doggie friend.
He TOTALLY adores people and needs them so much and his foster mum has so much work she can't be with him enough to keep him happy and he seems to have decided the other 'boys' are worth annoying.

LULU IS STAYING with her new family!

Exciting news for Seniors! Lulu will be featured in the Sunday Telegraph in Sydney as part of an advertising campaign for Petrescue! It may just be the key to finding her special home. To think how her life in rescue started..........
How nice for Lulu, she had quite a lot of calls wanting to give her a home and most importantly the one that may well be her forever home. Thank you Steven!
3 weeks on: Lulu has been desexed, had her final dental work and is well and ready for her new home!

1 week on: Lulu sunning herself today after a refreshing bath, and she even seemed to enjoy it! Please note the length of the 'lawn' behind her, I really have so much time free for gardening. LOL.
THURSDAY: Anaesthesia? Going towards the light? What light??? If anyone met Lulu today they would think it was all a big dream! Lulu is FINE! 100% fine! What a lucky girl to recover so well and so quickly. Now we have to wait a few weeks and try a new anaesthetic drug to have her desexed and ready to rehome. Well that's if I can take her little toys off her for a bit. LOL.
TUESDAY: Progress is good! Lulu's tail is now up! Now dog owners will know that is a good sign. But even better she has had a play with a little toy tiger and that tells me she is happy...well at least a bit. On the down side, I had an awful lot of cleaning up when I got home, not doubt the effects of the
anaesthetic.
MONDAY: Good news! Lulu is home with me now. She has pulled up remarkably well, eating and drinking, walking steadily and by all appearances a 'normal' dog. The next few days I should be able to let Todd (our vet)know that she has truly recovered. It's a bit busy here now with 9, so if there is anyone who has a spot for a nice older (maybe 10 but quite good and spritely) girl please let me know as it would be kinder for her to have less competition for care and affection.
Saturday: One of my best rescue friends was at the vets today picking up 2 of her 'saves' and gave Lulu and pat in her little hospital bed and she opened her eyes and looked at her. I guess that's a start.
Today has been one of those days for me. There are lots of ups and downs in rescue, lots of worries, sadness and disappointments but today it was touch and go for Lulu.
This morning was a rush to secure rescue(thanks Tracy) for #719 from the pound, a rush to organise transport (thanks to the wonderful volunteer driver Kevin), the rush to get a booking at the vet (Animal Tracks, you are the best!) all while rushing to work, working and answering 2 phones at once.
I pulled it off...phew. Everything fell into place. At my lunch break I called to check on her progress and give her the name Lulu. That's when it all fell apart. They were just about to call with the news that things had not gone according to plan for Lulu's surgery.
She had died.....her heart had stopped once she was anaethetised ready for her desexing and dental. Luckily they started her heart again with adrenalin, oxygen and massage very quickly and she regained her colour and breathing, her pupils normal. BUT, and here is the but...she hasn't woken yet.
I rushed over, as much as you do in peak hour Sydney traffic, after work only to have the news that she hasn't come out of it and has to stay for the next few days. She was sleeping warm and safe in the hospital on a heat pad, covered and cared for but no one knows if she is going to come out of this with her brain functioning as normal.
It most likely was an anaphalactic reaction to the drugs. Alternatively it could be a sign of an underlying kidney or liver disease. This will of course be investigated in due course if she regains her conscious state and shows signs of normal brain behaviour.
Needless to say it's all a bit much! My wonderful vet Todd has assured me she has a chance and we should go ahead and see how things stand in the next few days. Until then she is in the 'hospital' and I need each of you to send positive thoughts or prayers her way.
Lulu didn't deserve to be in the pound and she doesn't deserve an end to her life before she has had time to enjoy and be loved again.
This poor thing.....stuck in the pound....unwanted....unclaimed.....held over from destruction just in case someone would open their heart and home to her.....but nothing.......Chihuahua x f Tan white muzzle older aged girl Bankstown 719
GEORGE HAS DECIDED TO STAY! WOOOHOOO!! Lucky George!

Anna visited George and filed this:
Hmm, what can I say. I'm a bit in love with him Linda.
He's so sweet, thank goodness his life didn't end in the pound. He's just SUCH a worthy boy.
No supermodel, a little stiff in the legs, a few grey whiskers... but there is something very special about him. Like he's seen a lot.
I'm a stranger to him but he welcomed me into his pen with such manners, lay at my feet as we chatted and looked out into the neighbouring paddocks. He got a belly-rub and soaked up the company with a smile. When it was time for me to leave (which was very difficult) he took his treat gently from my hand and watched quietly as i dissapeared around the corner.
One day soon I hope, George will be spending sunny days in the garden and snoozing the night away next to his master's bed.

LATEST NEWS: a good report thanks to the medication he is on for his arthritis he is moving much better and more freely - a good sign for his future!!
And from a recent visitor: "What a gorgeous man he is! He's so gentle .... loves people ..... walks nicely on a lead beside you and seems okay with other dogs (as he is still in qaurantine - he only had the opportunity to say hello to other dogs thru the wire and he was very calm and happy when doing so .... especially with the blonde shepherd girl :-)

George is the Pet of the Moment on Operation Toby - thanks for the support!
George is a Ridgeback X Male of between 7 and 10 years.
We don't know his age as even though he was micro-chipped the details were never recorded on the CAR register leaving the pound with no way to contact his owners or his exact details. He is a lovely older man, too nice to let go.
One pound visitor said "he was a really nice man... happy.. friendly.. smiling face to greet you... and he was just soooo relaxed.. as if to say.. oh well... what can you do..."
Another said " I was at HP today and said hello to this bloke again he really is a lovely boy he even offered me his paw. It's so hot there and there wasn't a lot of shade I felt so sorry for them all stuck in there but particularly this boy because he just wasn't complaining he stood at the front of his cage and gently wagged his tail at me letting me give him a scratch through the cage door."
All this for a boy stuck in a foreign, unpleasant and scary environment.

Seniors has decided to help him, so to begin with he is going into kennels for 1 month for quarantine (just in case) and holding while we seek his forever home. Hopefully within that time the perfect home or foster home will come forward.
George is desexed and micro-chipped and all of his vet work needs will be attended to soon and he will be available to a home that appreciates the joy of an older, calm and loyal companion.
Pixie has settled into her carers home and family so much that it would be cruel for her to be parted from them, so, she is staying with Val forever!!!
Pixie - Maltese X - Female
8 years old
Dear little 'Seniors Project' girl has had all of her problems sorted. From a scruffy, dirty matted girl, with rotting teeth and going blind from severe eye infections she now has her teeth clean and sorted, her eyes completely healed, a beautiful coat and is lapping up the care she is getting in her carers home.
She is so sweet and so good with other dogs and children a favourite of all who meet her.

Poppy is staying with Anna.....she just can't bear to let this little one go. She has a long way to go to recover from a difficult life, but it will happen.
Poppy has recovered and gone on to proper Silky care!!!
Poppy had Kennel Cough after her 'pound experience' and sadly it moved on to Pneumonia. So....Poppy is here with me to recuperate. Please wish her a speedy recovery.
Seniors best friend Anna has decided that if nothing comes up for this beauty overnight, she will squeeze her in somewhere. She just can't let her go......
Dickie is now in care with me and doing well.......

DICKIE is in deep trouble! He has been surrendered to the pound, no one wants him and he has decided to try to eat EVERYONE who tries to touch him or pick him up.
Now Chihuahua people would not be surprised about this! Chihuahua's are.....well.....can be.......touchy, nippy and sometimes downright spiteful.
Take Pee Wee for example, she is very much the same. Luckily she has bonded enough with me for her life to be quite fine and peaceful here with me, but ask any of my visitors or our vet Todd and they will tell you about the side they see of her.
I feel that given the chance that Pee Wee has had Dickie will be OK given time, space and patience. Now I have the patience, but sadly neither the space nor the time.

Is there anyone that could give this a go? There is of course one problem, that is prooving to the pound by Monday kill time that he has the potential to be classed as rehomable. That is something we are working on.........if we had somewhere for him to go then he would have an even better chance. Please email me if you think you can
linda.jane@bigpond.com.auThere are several other old dogs at pounds that we could help if foster care could be found in Sydney, so if you would like to look at Urgent and give another one consideration, let me know ASAP as some are on their last days.
Jen-Jen is now a Seniors dog.
Here she is at home with me, how cute is this little old chook?
She's a total delight, sweet, a little shy but very cuddly.

GIDGET HAS FOUND 'HER' HOME !!!
Gidget - Terrier X - Female - Appr 12 years
Possible breed mix - Australian Terrier X Jack Russell Terrier.
Gidget is a happy girl who is house trained, doggie door savvy and excellent company. She is friendly to strangers and is relaxed in the house and yard with all manner of machines and noises.
She is full of life and has lots of love to give, gentle with everyone. She is very people orientated and although good with other dogs is quite happy in the company of a caring person. She will sit beside you gazing into your face happily and then rest her chin in your lap. She will follow all the movement in the house not wanting to miss a single thing.
I would think her Terrier nature may surface if near a cat, so better suited to a home without one.
She has a few heath issues, including a heart murmur, a suspected small mammary tumour and failing eyesight, none of which require medication at this point. She is otherwise coping well with her
aged body and has the prospect of quite some time yet.
In the time she has been with me her skin allergies have been sorted by simple flea treatment and time to heal and her coat is lush and full and much softer than before. She doesn't shed and her coat doesn't get knots, so very low maintenance.
She certainly has a healthy appetite and a zest for life and living it fully.
She would like to sleep in a cosy bed beside yours.
She is available for a home that has the space for a lovely old girl who seems ever so much younger! She doesn't need another dog for company.
CHARLIE HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME!!

Charlie - Chihuahua X Pomeranian
Male - 14 years
Charlie is a dear, quiet little man just looking for the love he somehow has lost.
He is house-trained, doggie door savvy and beautiful company.
His coat is just gorgeous, a rich red and soft and despite being long is easy care with regular brushing.
If you are looking for some loving company from an easy boy then Charlie is your man.
He loves a cuddle, loves to stand and be brushed and really makes very few demands.
He gets on very well with other dogs, however with his considerable hearing loss he would only be suited to other gentle dogs as he doesn't hear a warning growl. He never fusses or barks, such a cruisy boy!

This is what Sallie had offered me!! A dirty, wet, smelly, sad, sad little boy, horrified in the pound and with his dramatic hearing loss that's quite understandable.
For some reason I said OK......she whisked him out of there had him bathed (like an emergency operation) and stashed him at her home until he could come down to Sydney.
She named him Charlie and the name has stuck. The vet was impressed with his condition, despite his age and after a nip and tuck on certain dangling objects and a good dental he was ready, processed, jabbed and tested and I brought him home.
He's a lovely boy and didn't take too long to settle in with my lot. He was a bit difficult with food for a while, but now that's sorted the only challenge is to fnd that spot where he gets more attention, cuddles and kisses and more time being brushed and held - he just loves all of that!!
Look at him now! He is a lovely looking boy and I thank Sallie for sticking her neck out for him and making me help him.

Buddy's update from his new and loving owner, Glenn:
I adopted Buddy last Friday after driving to Wyong to meet him. The first couple of days were hard for Buddy…I could see the look of submissive despair from his previous experiences and being displaced once again. He doesn’t understand it yet but the home he’s in now is permanent and in time the past will fade. He is the most beautiful little boy and it saddens me to see the results of his previous treatment. It has taken a week now just to have eye contact from him and we are slowly working on convincing him to eat inside. At first just getting him to sleep inside the house was a monumental effort but he’s now taken over my bed and I’m thinking I may have to sleep on the floor.
This was a big step for me as well…my Brutus passed away almost 7 months ago. He was also a Silky Terrier and my best friend of 16 years. There was nowhere we didn’t go together and nothing we didn’t do together…we were inseparable. His passing tore a hole in my heart that has been bleeding ever since.
Buddy is not a replacement for Brutus and I’m sure Brutus would approve of me giving a second chance to another in need…in a sense, Buddy is healing me and I’m healing him and the future looks good.
Can you believe how lucky Buddy is? Do you remember how he looked at the pound?

Toddles is staying with her carer Sue for the rest of her (happy) days.
Toddles is in safe and caring hands with Dru. She has to get over the hideous Kennel Cough she caught in the pound and put some weight on her tiny bones. Both Dru and Todd (one of out caring vets)feel she is very elderly, at least 14. The saddest thing is that she HAS been well cared for for many years. Her teeth are remarkable for a small dog of her age which shows excellent diet and care. Whatever the reason she no longer has a home is tragic but she is so affectionate, loves a lap, enjoys life and still has 'good' life left to live. Send some positive vibes her way..........and say thanks to Dru for squeezing her in.
Well Toddles has visited Uncle Todd and she isn't in too bad shape, all except for her heart......this has limited her options greatly. She's very skinny and was dehydrated when her carer, Dru, picked her up.
Of course with some TLC, (and she loves cuddles) she will be much brighter soon.
This OLD girl is in the pound and I can rescue her if I find a LONG term foster carer or a forever home in Sydney only.
By the photo she appears to be close to blind and is thin and needing lots of TLC.
