Aiming to rehome dogs in their twilight years

Lexie

Lexie - Large Mixed Breed (German Shepherd X Dane ?)- Female - 8 - 9 years

A truly gentle soul, Lexie has a lot of love to share with any kind-hearted person willing to welcome her into their lives. She is a bright, happy girl who has very manageable exercise needs - a gentle stroll once a day around the neighbourhood to sniff all the sniffs will see her satisfied. She is a quiet dog and, although large, is very easy on the garden and her indoor environment; content to just find a quiet spot in the sun for a midday snooze or to curl up beside you watching telly of an evening. Lexie sleeps well inside throughout the night and appears fully housetrained. She travels happily in the car and has good basic obedience skills, walking nicely on the lead and inviting pats with a very reliable sit and shake manoeuvre that has obviously served her well over the years. Lexie absolutely adores human company and gets along well with most other dogs once she's been properly introduced. She has come to adore her foster brother Chiefy and even lapses into goofy puppyhood when playing with him in the yard! Like many older dogs, Lex has a touch of arthritis, but she has recently had a full blood screen which shows her to be in excellent health and explains her youthful outlook on life. This gorgeous girl would make a lovely addition to a household without young children or cats and will relish the opportunity to spend her golden years surrounded by love and affection.

Desexed, C5 vaccinated, microchip, wormed and on heartworm and flea prevention - $190 adoption fee.

Lucky

Lucky - Labrador X Kelpie - Male - 8 years

Poor Lucky was surrendered to the pound at the age of 8 years as his family couldn't keep him anymore. It seems he was well loved and looked after and he was quite obviously an inside dog. He is perfectly at home and very well behaved inside the house (he's house trained and knew straight away how to use dog door). He has basic training- can sit, walks well on lead and travels very well in the car.
He is still very fit and spritely and enjoys walks- gets quite excited when he thinks there is one about to happen.
Lucky is very affectionate and loves attention, playing fetch and tag-of-war.
He is very good and confident with other dogs but seems to prefer human company so will be suitable as an only dog with enough attention from his humans.
He also seems to be good with cats.

Lucky seems to be in good health- there are no signs of arthritis, his teeth are in very good condition and his coat is nice and shiny- this boy still has quite a few good years in him.

Pepper

ADOPTED !

Pepper - Labrador - Female - 8 years

Eight year old Pepper loves company, but has spent too much time on her own lately. As a result, she becomes very excited when she spots company. By herself, Pepper will quietly curl up in her bed, but when humans are about, she wants to be with them. Pepper has heaps of love to share and would suit a family who can devote plenty of time to socialise with her and treat her as one of the family. Pepper just adores small children and will quickly roll over for pats.

She has some basic training, but would benefit from more consistent training. Pepper becomes quite anxious when she meets other dogs, but settles once she realises there is no threat. She is not good with pats.

Lack of exercise recently means that Pepper is a little overweight, but a more active lifestyle will soon overcome that. She adores a daily walk, however she is still learning not to pull on her lead.

Pepper needs to be walked regularly (once a day) as well as having play time with her family. She is happy to be with her family doing anything they choose, be it out walking, playing with her or just relaxing watching TV, Pepper needs to be included in your daily routine and not left outside on her own. Pepper loves to socialise with other dogs and people. Pepper sleeps indoors but is an outdoor dog while you are away from home.

Pepper comes microchipped, vaccinated, desexed and treated for intestinal worms, heart worm and fleas and with a ton of love and a gorgeous smile for the right family, for a re-homing fee of $350.
