Sam is a 13 year old wire haired JRT mix. He has been with his elderly
owner his whole life but now due to ill health he is looking for a new
home. Sam has a wonderful soft and loving nature who will sit on command
and comes to his name. Sam likes to dig holes and is afraid of
thunderstorms, but is very good with other dogs and eats just about
anything. He has lived his life outside and is not too fond of cats but
loves nothing better than a nice bone to chew and some kind attention.
He is OK in the yard alone but his owner has not really had small
children about with him. Sam will remain his owners companion until he
goes into assisted care, but will then require a new loving home with a
couple or older person.
Marco Polo - Boxer X Labrador - 10 years
Marco Polo is a ten and half year old boxer cross labrador. He has been
with his current owners since he was a puppy. He is a solid strong dog
who will require a decent sized yard, good secure fences and some daily exercise. Sadly
this dog has been surrendered to RADAR as his owner has been taken into
care and his elderly wife cannot manage such a large dog with failing
health issues of her own. Marco is good with other small dogs though not
so good with larger dogs or cats. Marco is very affectionate but sometimes will knock
over small children and as he has not been around children, he may be
better suited to a home where there are none. Although he is older,
Marco still has plenty of love to give the right new owner.![]()

BOY, 12 year old male Dingo x — Boy is a Dingo x one of many Dingo dogs and their offspring living in the Byron area for many years living along side a residential area. He is a special need dog that was rescued from the Tallows Beach area at Byron Bay. He was born in the bush and spent the first two years as a free wild dog. He was regularly seen on the beach and played with pet dogs but no-one could get near him. Sadly he got ill from a wound infection and the residents called ARRG to help capture him. After several weeks we managed to feed him food that had sedatives in it and caught him. Boy received urgent vet treatment and was desexed and came into care. Boy has been in foster care for over 6 years and lives with his carer. Boy is a wise and gentle creature. He is the most gentle dog and has never shown any aggression to people or animals, in fact all dogs love him. The problem is he is still shy of people other than his carers who may have to move soon. Boy is restrained at all times except when he goes on his long walks and he is so well behaved on the lead. For the rest of the time he is on the longest chain and never creates any problems, he cannot be off this chain unless he is in a dog proof enclosed area as he wants to run free. ARRG has a dream of building a centre where Boy would have a special small enclosure where he could run free again with other dogs to timid to rehouse and stay in care with ARRG for life.If you would like to help Boy you could make a donation to help us fund this enclosure for him. Make donations for Boy as 'For Boy's enclosure'. THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF BOY.
If you have a fenced area and time to exercise and care for BOY and can offer him a home FOR LIFE please contact us on 66221881 office hours or 66627154 after hours.

FLEUR, 12 year old female Corgi x Cattle — Fleur is a very pretty special needs girl, she is small and has a tan and white fleck medium length coat. Fleur was an abuse case and was rescued by ARRG when she was only months old. Sadly Fleur never gained confidence with many people and is still timid and shy around some people. She is happy with her carer's family and is very loving and playful with them and other pets and is a great little watch dog but may never be happy in a home with lots of visitors. Ideally she would need a special home with a mature family with a secure dog proof area who would give her lots of love and attention and time to adjust and in return she would be a great companion. Fleur lives on a quiet property where she has lots of long walks with her carer and she is a well behaved and very loving girl.
If you have a fenced area and time to exercise and care for FLEUR and can offer her a home FOR LIFE please contact us on 66221881 office hours or 66627154 after hours.

Jesse - Shih Tzu - Male - 7 years and Marty - JRT - Male - 9 years.
Jesse and Marty are a lovely pair. They were surrendered to their local pound due to no fault of their own and a change in their owners circumstances.
Jesse is a Shihtzu cross. He was smelly and dirty when he arrived so was groomed and bathed. He was really quite good and loved the bath. He is lemon and white in colour. Jesse sits and walks well on a lead, he is extremely well mannered around people other nice dogs and cats. Jesse has a cheekiness about him and makes you wonder what he is thinking and is a leader in the outgoing way. He will jump a small fence but has returned soon after.
Marty is a Jack Russell. He is gentle and thoughtful. He has estremely good manners with people cats and nice dogs. He was smelly and begged to have a bath and brush. Marty shows wisdom and total devotion. He is a leader in the quiet way, he sits and walks on a lead. Marty doesn't jump the fence. He does need to trim down so some walks for his waistline and also for Jesse's gentle energy each day would be a great idea. These boys show strong interest to come indoors and it is suspected they are house trained. Their new home would need to be prepared for this and to at the least provide an enclosed verandah style room for them to sleep in. They need a secure sheltered yard to play in unsupervised.
Being older boys they have wonderful health but will have a vet check to be sure before rehoming. They will need an annual check up and possible dentals occasionally to keep thm in the best of health.
These two must rehome together.

Ted E Bear - ACD - Male - Senior aged.
Ted E Bear aka Big Ted is a handsome big lump of a dog. One of Ted’s most appealing features is his expressive eyes, they almost look right into your soul – which is why he is now with ACDR and didn’t end his days on death row at Wagga pound. He has that older ACD attitude of been there, done that. Ted is social with most other dogs but definitely prefers the company of the females in his foster environment. Ted is OK with cats. While Ted does enjoy the company of other dogs, they are almost irrelevant if his ‘person’ is in the picture. He is a lovely, loyal and devoted companion who is an affection sponge. He just has to be touching you and I’ve yet to convince him that he is just way too big for a lap dog! Despite Ted’s age, he is at least 7+, he has loads of life left in him. He will hoon around the yard and chase a tennis ball if the mood takes him, but he reckons having you chase him is way more fun than him bringing it back to you. Well, he will bring it back, only to grab it just before your reach it and then run away again grinning smugly, convinced he has outwitted you. Ted walks nicely on the lead and has had some basic training, but he is probably still too bouncy for little kids. Teenagers or dog savvy older kids would be fine. Ted would suit a retired couple or someone who has had ACD’s before and relishes the joys of owning an older ACD. Ted needs a new best mate and a caring soul who will give him a soft, warm spot to lay his head for the rest of his days. A daily walk or outdoor adventure would also be perfect. In return, you would only need to look into Ted’s eyes to know how special you are to him.
When Ted was rescued, he did have some health issues. He had a lump on his tail, his ears were badly fly bitten and he had a prostate infection. All of these issues have had Veterinary attention and he seems to be recovering nicely. Even his coat condition has improved dramatically. Ted’s veterinary history will be provided to any potential adopter.

Kia - ACD - Stumpy Tailed - Female - 9 years
Kia is a red Australian Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog who is approximately 9 years old.
Kia was rescued from Queanbeyan Pound by ACDR as a 7mo pup. She was adopted by a lovely family and has lived with them until her owner passed away recently and she returned to ACDR.
Kia is a lovely girl with a gorgeous nature and she is well socialized. She tries to talk to you in her little high pitched voice – she’s almost human! Kia is healthy, but she could lose a few kilo’s and is already starting to trim down running around with the other dogs at ACDR. Kia is social with other dogs, fine with cats and brilliant with children. Kia is house-trained and used to sleeping inside, the lounge is her preferred position if possible, but I’m sure a comfy dog bed would also be fine. Ideally, Kia would find a new permanent home with loving active family who don’t mind spoiling a dog in the manner she is accustomed! Kia is not a chronic fence jumper, but good fencing is a necessity as Kia will take her self off to find other human admirers if the mood takes her.

This gorgeous grey female Siberian Husky is Arcticmate Tsarina - but we call her Buffy. Born 9 January 2000, she was bought as a pet, carefully raised and much loved by a family. Her family moved to a rural area earlier this year and the change in environment unsettled Buffy to the point where the wide open spaces called her and she developed a history of chasing livestock.
Tearfully, Buffy was surrendered to Husky Rescue for re-homing - in to a CITY HOME ONLY.
Buffy is a large and striking Husky, in great health, desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
She needs a home with secure fencing and no cats or other "pocket pets". Her new family must allow her to spend time indoors and to accompany them on family activities. She is fit and enjoys daily walks - essential to help her use up some of her energy.
The warmer Spring weather we are now enjoying may be all the incentive you need to add Buffy as your new walking companion. Yet, she is calm and accepting and enjoys time on her rug in a corner of your room - just soaking up her people's attention and being a part of the family.
A donation of $ 150 is being asked when you decide to keep Buffy - after a 4 week trial. We will provide advice, back up help and more information as needed as our much loved Robbie (Ch Kolyma Silver Bounty) appears twice in her pedigree.
For more information and to arrange to meet Buffy, please contact
